The Kitchen!!!!!

Ok so the caravan reno has been going for 2 1/2 years but I am not giving up!!!!!!

The picture of me in a deck chair, by a river, reading a book and listening to the birds keeps me going. It is mainly taking this long as I now have a house with my Fiance and we are landscaping and setting it all up. Which costs money and time.

However, a friend works for a DIY kitchen company so I had him take my plans, measurements and prayers, and build a kitchen!!!!!

And guess what…… It fits like a glove!!!!!!!

Plain white, with a dark charcoal bench top.

It did on one side however have to fit over the wheel arch so the supports for the whole cupboard are each side that reaches to the ground, then the bottom shelf is a fixed point to hold the whole thing together.

Getting my dad to come over soon to cut the sink hole out, connect the new gas cook top and help us to anchor the whole kit and caboodle to the caravan walls.

I’ll post again when I have an update and new pictures.

Painting – you wouldn’t think there was any left to do.

So my latest efforts is to finish off all of the little painting jobs that need to be done with a small brush.

I also made the executive decision that I would no longer make new cupboard doors, with little gas struts, locks and new handles. I figured that it would cost quite a bit to do, would involve more painting and be a waste of time and effort. Instead I have fished out the sliding doors which I kept just in case, taken off all of the knobs off and painted with a white enamel spray paint, and painted all of the doors.

Put them all back together, and Voila’, a caravan with all overhead cupboards finished!

The next part which I couldnt help but do, was to ask Paul to bring in the roll of lino that I had already purchased, and to start laying out the floor.

Since I have nearly finished laying an industrial vinly plank in our whole house I have learnt how to gauge cutting without a template. And let me assure you, I must be pretty good, as when I layed it down its fits like a glove.

My only problem with it so far, is that it is very thin, and if there are any bits under it and you step on it they press into it (which I totally didnt find out when I tested this theory and nearly punctured a hole in it).

Moving from A to B revisited

Here are some more photos of the getting ready of moving of the caravan from my parents house to our house

.

I’m beginning to hate painting.

For the last couple of nights I have been going out and painting cupboards and draws. To get them looking good about 3 coats are needed, but trying to roller the inside of draws is annoying, and I’m a little over it. I just want it all done so I can put the handles back on and move onto the next part, making the overhead cupboard doors.

I have realized however that it is nice by myself making something.
